Bitcoin closed October about 7% lower, and the week ahead brings the US midterm elections and the October jobs report. Crypto liquidations for the month reached $12.5 billion, according to data shared by Watcher.Guru.

October's losses and liquidations
Longs took most of the damage. Watcher.Guru's tally put long liquidations at $9.213 billion and shorts at $3.29 billion. Bitcoin closed the month down a little over 7%.
Bitcoin fell 7.3%, from a September close of $83,556 to $77,424 on Oct. 31. The monthly high was $87,249 on Oct. 2 and the low was $76,141 on Oct. 30. The slide is mainly tied to the $6.3 billion Binance hack and it's the weakest October since 2014.
October is supposed to be bitcoin's month, known in crypto as "Uptober." Bitcoin has closed October in the red only four times since 2013: in 2014, 2018, 2025 and this year.

Midterms and the week's calendar
The week opens Monday with the ISM Manufacturing PMI and Apple earnings. The calendar indicates the ISM reading at 10 a.m. ET and Palantir's results the same day. Tuesday is election day. It also brings JOLTS job openings and AMD earnings. The JOLTS estimate is 7.230 million, compared to 7.079 million previously, according to Investing.com data.
Eurozone inflation data lands Wednesday, along with talk of possible US strikes on Iran. Iran tensions are already lifting oil prices. Thursday brings US jobless claims and EU producer prices. The Bank of England is also due to decide on rates.
Friday's jobs report and the Fed
The October nonfarm payrolls report is due Friday at 8:30 a.m. ET. September's gain was only 29,000 jobs. Forecasts for October range from 55,000 to 60,000, with unemployment expected at 4.2%.
The data matters for crypto because of the Fed. The central bank held rates on Oct. 28. Futures priced about an 85% chance of a quarter-point hike on Dec. 9. Stronger jobs report could reinforce hike expectations. Weak report may raise hopes of easier policy, but a sharp deterioration in jobs could trigger a broader sell-off in risky assets.
Bitcoin is trading around $77,600 at the time of reporting. According to SoSoValue data, US spot bitcoin ETFs recorded $643.2 million in net outflows on Oct. 30.
US inflation data for October follows on Nov. 10 at 8:30 a.m. ET.
