Prediction market protocol Trueo announced it is migrating from Base to Ethereum mainnet, a move the team framed not as a rejection of Base but as the fulfillment of a plan set in motion when the project first launched in March 2025. "Trueo is coming home to Ethereum," the team wrote on X.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin endorsed the move publicly.

"Glad to see that Ethereum L1 will have a new strong prediction market contender that is dedicated to decentralization, and being ethical and not corposlop, and to actually trying to do interesting and meaningful things with this class of economic primitive," Buterin wrote.

Why Base made sense at launch but not for the long term

Trueo's own explanation is candid about why Base was the right starting point rather than the final destination. At launch, mainnet gas costs were still elevated and parts of the app remained experimental.

"Base served as a great sandbox to experiment and discover our strengths," the team wrote, adding that Trueo's stated end goal, to be "widely adopted, broadly integrated, fully permissionless, mostly immutable, and highly credible," made Ethereum the better fit for that combination of properties.

The team was explicit that the decision has nothing to do with Base losing ground competitively.

"Our decision to migrate to Ethereum mainnet has nothing to do with Base's positioning among competing chains, and everything to do with Ethereum's unmatched network effects, its global integrations, and its philosophical alignment," Trueo wrote.

Why the oracle is the actual product, not the app

Trueo's team argues that a prediction market's core value lives in its dispute resolution system rather than its trading interface.

"A prediction market is only as good as its oracle," the team wrote, adding that "due process in dispute resolution is severely lacking despite the growth of prediction markets over the past five years."

This framing directly addresses a documented weakness across the current prediction market landscape. Polymarket's UMA-based oracle system faced sustained criticism throughout 2025 and 2026 after researchers identified hundreds of accounts profiting from settlement periods later classified as likely manipulated, a problem serious enough that Polymarket revised its own settlement methodology in August 2026 to use time-weighted pricing rather than point-in-time snapshots. Trueo's positioning, that oracle credibility is the actual differentiator in this category rather than a secondary feature, responds to a specific, recently documented failure mode rather than a hypothetical concern.

Trueo said its oracle is designed to process evidence from virtually any legitimate data source, a design choice the team frames as solving "a major user pain point. Not in theory, not as a nerd snipe, but in a practical and immediate way."

Why Ethereum's uncrowded prediction market landscape matters

Despite Ethereum hosting the largest collection of DeFi primitives in crypto, Trueo describes the mainnet prediction market landscape as relatively uncrowded compared to competing chains.

"Ethereum mainnet offers an untapped opportunity to build a prediction market that can leverage its decentralization and harness its network effects," the team wrote.

Polymarket, the dominant prediction market by volume, operates on Polygon rather than Ethereum mainnet, while Kalshi runs as a CFTC-regulated platform outside crypto entirely. That leaves a genuine gap on Ethereum L1 itself, where DeFi lending, DEX trading, and stablecoin infrastructure are heavily saturated but dedicated prediction market infrastructure has not established a comparable dominant player. Trueo's bet is that being first to meaningfully establish that category on Ethereum mainnet, rather than building a marginally better version of an already-crowded Polygon or Solana-based product, gives it a structural advantage in capturing integrations across Ethereum's existing DeFi ecosystem.

The team pointed to specific integration paths this unlocks, including offering oracle services to other protocols, yield-generation opportunities for TYD, and broader use of prediction markets as a primitive within DeFi more generally.

What actually changes for users during the transition

Trueo was specific about operational continuity. There will be no interruption to the app before or during the transition, and the development roadmap remains unchanged. Users on Base are encouraged not to create new markets expiring after January 31, 2027, deploying those instead to Ethereum once that instance goes live. Markets expiring before that date on Base are unaffected.

Trading, resolutions, and redemptions continue without interruption, and TYD continues accruing yield throughout the migration. All existing Base markets that expire after the migration remain accessible through the official Trueo app, governed by the same resolution system currently in place.

TRUE, the protocol's token, remains unchanged in its role, and holders can migrate to Ethereum alongside the rest of the app. Future staking and liquidity reward programs will run on Ethereum going forward. Trueo said the migration window will remain open indefinitely, with no cut-off date for holders to move.

According to CoinGecko data, TRUE currently trades at $0.01302, with market pricing implying expectations near $0.02 by the end of September 2026.
