SpaceXAI launched Grok Bot on August 11, a product the company describes as AI teammates that accept real assignments and complete them end to end. According to Bloomberg, the beta is available for SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra, and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers on desktop and iOS. Enterprise access is on a waitlist. The launch follows SpaceX's $60 billion all-stock agreement in June to acquire Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, whose coding tools are already embedded across much of the Fortune 500.

The product did not debut in front of outside users first. SpaceXAI built Grok Bot as an internal prototype, and teams across the company adopted it for sales, marketing, operations, and engineering work before the external beta opened. That internal track record is the primary evidence SpaceXAI has offered for the beta's claims. Independent performance data from outside the company is not yet available.

What makes Grok Bot different from a chatbot

The distance between ordinary Grok and Grok Bot is structural rather than cosmetic. Ordinary Grok is a conversational assistant that generates answers and content. Grok Bot adds a persistent cloud computer that stays active after a user's local device shuts down.

That cloud machine can sign into websites and applications the way a human employee would. The product is therefore not limited to services that expose a clean API or a Model Context Protocol connection. SpaceXAI frames this as the difference between almost completing work and delivering it to the right place inside the actual tool.

A product team member put the distinction in plain terms:

"There is a huge difference between 90% done and 100% done. Most AI gets you almost there. Grok Bot can finish the swing, because the work lands where a human would put it, in the actual tool."

A Bot receives an assignment in plain language and navigates the shared cloud machine across tools and websites. It then returns either finished work or a request for human approval. The company positions the interface as a normal conversation rather than a workflow builder. A community team member described the onboarding:

"There wasn't anything to learn. It was just like bringing on a coworker. No automations to set up, no product quirks, no intricate naming. You're just chatting with a friend."

How users teach a bot their workflow

One feature SpaceXAI highlights is the ability for a Bot to observe a task and save it as a repeatable routine. A user asks the Bot to follow along once. The Bot records the steps and accepts corrections, then runs the same process independently on later occasions without a re-explanation from the user.

A sales team member described the result:

"I showed Grok Bot a workflow once and now I just fully trust it to run forever. I feel like I'm 2-3x more efficient because it does it without me verifying and reviewing."

Users can also run several specialist Bots in parallel and assign one a coordinating role. Those specialists can message each other and pass work in shared group threads. The user does not need to copy notes between separate conversations for the Bots to stay aligned on the same project. A growth team member described the experience:

"Working with Grok Bot feels like I have eight arms like an octopus, with every arm in concert with the others, each performing the task the way I would."

Trust in the system generally builds gradually. An operations team member described the early phase:

"When I first started, I was checking in on them every 15 minutes and micromanaging the Bots to the point where they asked me why I kept asking so many questions. Now I let it do its thing and it's just gotten better with time."

The shared computer is not a separate machine per bot

Before connecting workplace accounts to Grok Bot, one technical detail from the product FAQ is worth understanding carefully. SpaceXAI's phrasing that Bots have "their own computer" does not mean each Bot runs inside its own isolated environment. The FAQ states that all Bots belonging to one user share a single persistent cloud computer. That shared machine holds the browser sessions and files common to that user's account. Isolation is per user, not per individual Bot.

A sales Bot and a recruiting Bot, for example, would operate from the same cloud machine under the same user account. SpaceXAI says the machine is encrypted in transit and at rest. A training opt-out is available, and sensitive actions can be routed through Auto Review before execution. Enterprise administrators can configure data-loss prevention and network controls at the system level.

What the launch material does not address is the default boundary between autonomous and approval-required actions. Credential-handling scope and audit trail details are also not publicly documented at this stage.

The risk is not speculative. In April, a Cursor agent powered by Anthropic's Claude Opus deleted a startup's production database and its backups with a single API call. Cursor also drew scrutiny previously after its Grok Build tool uploaded entire Git repositories that contained committed secrets. Grok Bot operates in the same category of autonomous, credential-holding action. SpaceXAI advises new users to start with bounded, repetitive workflows and extend access only after outputs have been reviewed at each stage.

What Grok Bot costs and where it runs

Three paid plans carry access at launch. SuperGrok Heavy is $300 per month, Cursor Ultra is $200 per month, and Cursor Premium Teams is $120 per seat per month. Each includes weekly Bot usage, with additional use billed by token cost. SpaceXAI has not published the exact Bot allowance per plan or the full rate card for extra usage. Free Grok, standard SuperGrok, and standard Cursor Pro are not eligible.

On the platform side, macOS builds for Apple silicon and Intel are available alongside Windows 10 and 11 support. A Debian and Ubuntu Linux package appears in the download dialog, though the official FAQ lists only macOS and Windows as desktop surfaces and iOS as the mobile option. That documentation gap is relevant for any Linux deployment. An iOS app is live for iPhone and iPad. Android is listed as coming soon with no release date stated.

The launch puts Grok Bot in direct competition with workplace agent products from OpenAI and Anthropic. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman discussed agents coordinating with one another during a July meeting with U.S. lawmakers. Cursor had also been developing a general-purpose office agent under the codename Sand before the Anysphere acquisition placed it under SpaceX's structure. SpaceXAI shipped Grok 4.5 in July, and Elon Musk said last week that Grok 4.6 could arrive within days.
