Mirae Asset Securities' Hong Kong arm has sold tokenized floating rate notes on Solana to institutional investors, with Singapore's Marketnode as authorized distributor, the firm said on Oct. 28.
The notes are denominated in U.S. dollars and have a six-month term. Mirae issued them under its $3 billion Guaranteed Structured Note Programme, and investors can hold them in token form on the public blockchain.
Mirae Asset Securities (HK) belongs to Mirae Asset Financial Group. Its parent, Mirae Asset Securities Co., is one of South Korea's largest securities firms.
The announcement did not disclose the size of the issue or its coupon. It also did not name the benchmark rate the notes float against. The $3 billion figure is the limit for the whole program, not the amount raised in this deal.
A floating rate note pays a coupon that resets at set intervals in line with a reference interest rate, so the investor's income moves with short-term rates.
Mirae ran the issuance on its own system
The Hong Kong unit used its proprietary digital infrastructure to handle token issuance and payments, according to the release. Mirae also manages the notes' lifecycle.
That is a change from an earlier tokenized issuance in January 2026, which relied on outside technology.
"Extending our structured note capabilities into digitally native channels is a natural progression of our strategic focus on digital assets," said Kelly Sohn, head of digital assets at Mirae Asset Securities.
Mirae said the transaction offers a model it can apply to a broader range of structured products over time. It gave no timetable.
Sale limited to professional investors
Mirae offered the notes by private placement to eligible professional investors only, as defined in Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Ordinance. The notes have not been authorized by or registered with the Securities and Futures Commission, the firm said.
Under Hong Kong's Securities and Futures (Professional Investor) Rules, an individual qualifies with an investment portfolio of at least HK$8 million. A corporation qualifies with a portfolio of that size or total assets of at least HK$40 million.
The SFC set out its approach to tokenized products in a November 2023 circular. The regulator said tokenized securities are fundamentally traditional securities with a tokenization wrapper, so existing securities rules still apply to them.
Marketnode is a digital market infrastructure operator regulated in Singapore. Its backers include Euroclear and HSBC, along with SGX Group and Temasek.
"The next stage of tokenisation is about distribution. Financial institutions already know how to manufacture sophisticated investment products; the opportunity is to connect those products with new institutional investors and new channels," said Andrew Scott, head of digital assets at Marketnode.
Solana Foundation backs the deal
The Solana Foundation, a nonprofit based in Zug, Switzerland, supported the transaction. The release did not say what that support involved.
"Public blockchain infrastructure becomes meaningful to capital markets when it can support the products and workflows institutions already use," said Lu Yin, head of APAC at the Solana Foundation.
Hong Kong's central bank has run its own tokenization program. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority launched Project Ensemble in March 2024 to explore the settlement of tokenized assets with tokenized deposits.
Group widens its digital asset push
The Solana notes follow other digital asset moves by Mirae in Hong Kong. The unit recently announced a separate funding note issuance linked to Grvt, an on-chain trading platform.
In April, the firm received approval from the SFC to offer digital asset services to retail clients. It later launched MAPS, an app that puts traditional and digital investment products on one platform.
At group level, affiliate Mirae Asset Consulting acquired a controlling stake in Korean crypto exchange Korbit in July. The exchange has since rebranded as Digital X.
Mirae Asset Global Investments, the group's asset manager, runs the Global X and TIGER ETF brands. Its website lists $275 billion in ETF assets under management as of June 2026.
