Tools for Humanity launched World Money on September 17, a self-custody financial app rolling out in more than 150 countries that combines stablecoin payments, digital asset trading, and identity-verified rewards. Features and eligibility vary by country. The company described it as "a home for everything financial - one place to add funds, grow and spend digital assets, and discover Mini Apps, like Kalshi, Credit, and Morpho."
The app splits World's previously combined identity and financial functions into two dedicated products. World ID App now handles verification and credentials exclusively, while World Money carries the wallet, payment, and financial features. Existing World App and World ID App users carry their verification and credentials over automatically without creating a new account.

What the app actually lets a user do day to day
The home screen shows a user's stablecoin balance across eight supported currencies. Where available, funds can route directly into a personal virtual account powered by Bridge, the stablecoin infrastructure company Stripe acquired in 2024 for approximately $1.1 billion. The Earn tab allows deposits of eligible assets, including Worldcoin and stablecoins, into programs powered by Morpho to accrue yield. The Trade tab covers buying and selling across exchanges, spanning tokens and real-world assets like gold within the same interface.
International transfers work through World usernames rather than bank details or wallet addresses. Any digital asset available in the app, including Worldcoin and stablecoins, can be sent to another user by username, subject to country availability.
Bridge's role here extends beyond a simple integration. Since Stripe's acquisition, Bridge has positioned itself as infrastructure for stablecoin-based payment products across multiple companies, including its recent role issuing Revolut's EURR stablecoin. Its presence inside World Money places it at the center of two of 2026's most prominent stablecoin consumer product launches within the same several-week window, underscoring how quickly stablecoin settlement infrastructure has consolidated around a small number of providers that banks and fintechs are choosing not to build in-house.
Why Stripe's Apple Pay integration matters for onboarding
World Money's partnership with Stripe addresses what has historically been one of the biggest friction points in self-custodial crypto products: getting fiat currency converted into on-chain assets. Starting in the US, users can fund their World Money account with Apple Pay and typically see stablecoins land in their account within minutes. Stripe is described as "the default way to add funds," part of what the announcement calls "a deepening partnership that runs across the rails moving assets in and out of World Money around the world."
Converting fiat to crypto has traditionally required either a centralized exchange account with its own KYC process, a bank wire that can take days, or a card transaction that carries elevated fees and frequent card-issuer blocks on crypto purchases. Apple Pay integration removes several of these steps by using a payment method already tied to a verified financial instrument on the user's phone. Stripe's broader crypto infrastructure push, including its Bridge acquisition and its co-authorship of the Machine Payments Protocol alongside Tempo, positions the company as an increasingly central intermediary layer between traditional card rails and stablecoin settlement across multiple unrelated consumer products.
Why World ID verification is central to the pitch
Tools for Humanity frames biometric verification through World ID's iris-scanning Orb hardware as the differentiator that separates World Money from other self-custody wallets. "As AI makes fake accounts cheaper and more convincing, a network of humans becomes the thing money rails can't fake," the company wrote. Verified users receive boosted rewards in Earn programs and get priority access as new features roll out.
The proof-of-personhood argument underlying World ID has grown more prominent across the crypto and AI industries throughout 2025 and 2026, as generative AI has made large-scale fake account creation and bot-driven fraud measurably cheaper to execute. World ID's Orb-based iris verification remains one of the few biometric approaches deployed at meaningful global scale specifically for this purpose, though the project has also drawn regulatory scrutiny in multiple countries over biometric data collection practices, including bans or restrictions in Spain, Portugal, Hong Kong, and Kenya at various points since the World network's 2023 launch. The tension between World's proof-of-human pitch and the privacy concerns regulators have raised in several jurisdictions remains an open question the World Money launch does not resolve.
How this fits World's product evolution since 2023
World App launched in May 2023 combining World ID with a crypto wallet, stablecoin transfers, and token trading. October 2024 brought World App 3.0, introducing third-party Mini Apps and a Vault feature for earning yield. The company piloted virtual bank accounts in the US in November 2025, expanding to more countries a month later, allowing paychecks and bank deposits to convert automatically into USDC.
World Money is operated by Tools for Humanity, co-founded by Sam Altman and Alex Blania, the same company behind the broader World network and World ID infrastructure.
